Community

Xeros Piccolo Consulting Engineers believes that well-designed community infrastructure is the foundation of vibrant, connected, and resilient towns and cities; shaping the spaces where people live, gather, learn, and interact. From civic buildings and public amenities to recreational facilities and open spaces, engineering expertise ensures that these environments are safe, functional, inclusive, and sustainable.

Our team is passionate about delivering projects that strengthen communities and enhance quality of life. We work closely with local councils, government agencies, architects, and community organisations to design and deliver facilities that reflect the character and needs of the people they serve. Every project is approached with careful consideration of accessibility, usability, environmental performance, and long-term maintenance, ensuring that the community benefits from infrastructure that stands the test of time.

Engineering within the community sector often involves diverse and multidisciplinary challenges. Our expertise spans civil, structural, and building services design, allowing us to manage projects from concept through to completion. Whether it is the design of a community centre, a public park upgrade, or essential infrastructure such as drainage and roads, we deliver practical and innovative solutions tailored to each unique site and community context.

We are proud to contribute to projects that make a real difference, and bring together technical precision, creative problem-solving, and a deep commitment to community outcomes that ensure every design contributes to a safer, more connected, and more liveable environment for all.

Our engineering experience covers a broad range of community projects, including:

  • Community centres and multipurpose buildings
  • Museums, theatres, and cultural facilities
  • Sports complexes, aquatic centres, and recreation facilities
  • Parks, playgrounds, and public open spaces
  • Public amenities and toilet blocks
  • Youth and senior centres, such as the Police Citizens Youth Club
  • Public infrastructure upgrades (footpaths, drainage, roadworks)
  • Car parks and access improvements for community spaces
  • Heritage restoration and adaptive reuse of community buildings

We were engaged to provide engineering services for the upgrades and compliance works at the Riverina Playhouse, a valued community arts space in Wagga Wagga. Our involvement included structural engineering input to support building improvements, accessibility upgrades, and compliance with current building codes and safety standards. Working collaboratively with project stakeholders, we helped ensure that the Playhouse’s facilities were modernised while preserving its heritage and community significance. The result is a revitalised venue that continues to serve as a vibrant hub for the performing arts, offering a safe, accessible, and enjoyable experience for audiences and performers alike.

Riverside Stage1

We were proud to contribute to the redevelopment of the Riverside Precinct in Wagga Wagga, providing engineering services for the new stage and public amenities. Our team delivered structural design solutions that supported the creation of a vibrant, functional, and accessible community space along the Murrumbidgee River. The project involved close collaboration with the design and construction teams to ensure that the stage structure, amenities, and surrounding infrastructure met contemporary standards for safety, durability, and usability. Our involvement helped deliver a high-quality public space that enhances the city’s cultural and recreational offerings, providing an inviting riverside destination for events, gatherings, and community activities.
