127 Farrer Road - The Riverina Anglican College

Xeros Piccolo Consulting Engineers provided comprehensive civil and structural design services for the project, including the design of a raft slab with piers founded in fill to support a lightweight steel-framed structure. The structural solution strategically combined conventional structural steel members with light-gauge steel framing, delivering a highly cost-effective system while enabling a streamlined and efficient construction programme.

The site presented challenging ground conditions, characterised by highly reactive soils and ongoing moisture ingress issues. These constraints required careful consideration during the design process to manage ground movement and maintain long-term structural performance. Through a practical, detail-oriented approach, our team worked closely with the geotechnical engineers at Aitken Rowe Testing Laboratories to develop and refine appropriate foundation and moisture management strategies.

This collaborative and proactive design process ensured the risks associated with the ground conditions were effectively mitigated, allowing construction to proceed smoothly. The result was a robust, buildable solution that achieved the client’s objectives while ensuring the project was delivered on time and within budget.
